AMD processors – in every fifth desktop computer

According to analysts at Mercury Research, AMD’s share of worldwide desktop processor shipments exceeded 20% in the third quarter of this year.

More precisely, AMD’s share is 20.4% – the second largest share after 77.5% owned by Intel. VIA ranks third among microprocessor suppliers with a modest result of 2.1%. If we trace the dynamics of market shares, then the situation looks as follows: recently, Intel’s share has slightly decreased (in the fourth quarter of last year it was 79.3%), and AMD has grown (the figure for the fourth quarter of 2021 is 19.2%).

In terms of notebook processors, the successful launch of the mobile versions of Turion 64 in August of this year allowed AMD to increase shipments of these products in one quarter alone by 55% (Intel increased shipments of its mobile processors by 22.7% over the same period).

An even more interesting picture is emerging in the high-performance server processor segment. Here AMD is three times ahead of its competitor in terms of supply growth rates: 16.5% versus 5.2%.
