The circuit, for which the technology of manufacturing thin-film transistors from low-temperature polycrystalline silicon was applied, was transferred to a plastic substrate during manufacturing. The finished product has the ability to exchange with other devices at a frequency of 13.56 MHz. It is noteworthy that the circuit is powered by radio signal energy, so no batteries are needed for its operation. The developers claim that their product remains functional even if the bending radius of the substrate is 10 mm.
An area of application for flexible circuits with RF units that do not require power is smart cards, for example, to perform contactless identification of the owner. Data exchange is provided by the radio unit, and their processing and process control are assigned to the controller.
