DivX 6 Codec Released for Mac OS X

DivX has released the eponymous DivX 6 codec for Mac OS X. Three components are installed on the computer: DivX Playback Support, which allows you to play the corresponding video files through QuickTime and any other program integrated with it, DivX Codec – components for encoding files into the popular format and DivX Converter – a program designed for encoding.

The codec itself is free, and the DivX Converter program will work for 15 days, after which it will require registration for 19.99 dollars.

To work correctly requires at least Mac OS X 10.3 and QuickTime 6. You can download a package of three components here (4.6 MB).
