“Spy photo” of the new Intel processor

You must remember how much attention Intel paid at IDF 2021 to the transition to 65nm technology and to reduce the power consumption of new processors. Looks like these plans are starting to come true in silicon.

A snapshot has appeared on the HKEPC website, which, according to the author of the publication, shows the new Pentium 4 processor (right). According to Intel’s notation system, it is numbered 643. If you look at the Intel website for the data of its nearest neighbor according to the table of parameters – Pentium 4 640 (by the way, in the picture it is on the left), we can confidently assume that the new processor is equipped with 2 MB L2 cache and supports Hyper-Threading technology. Clock frequency – 3.2 GHz, FSB frequency – 800 MHz.

The main difference, as follows from the commentary to the picture, is that the new processor is built on a different core and will be manufactured at 65 nm, while a similar model that existed earlier has a Prescott core and is produced at 90 nm. Please note that in the Intel roadmap the dual-core branch of desktop processors corresponds to the Presler core (in the future it will be replaced by Conroe), and for single-core Pentium 4 processors it is planned to use the Cedar Mill core.
