Panda Software: weekly virus and intrusion report
Panda Software has released a new edition of its weekly report, which will look at two Banker Trojans this week.AMQ and Downloader.ENC and two hacker utilities 007Spy and KeyMask.
Banker.AMQ performs several actions on infected computers, including the following:
- checks if there is an internet connection and if so sends an email to the account in the oi domain.com.br, notifying the author of its installation on the computer.
- monitors when the user visits web pages belonging to various Brazilian banks. If the user visits one of these pages, the Trojan displays a malicious web page on Internet Exporer, which is a copy of the page requested by the user and requires entering confidential information such as username and password, depending on the simulated bank. After collecting information, it returns an error message in Portuguese to mislead the user and avoid suspicion. It then sends the collected data to an email address.
- looks for files belonging to the Windows address book as well as digital certificates and sends them via FTP to a specific server.
Second Trojan ? Downloader.ENC ? has been found on certain web pages, one of which is dedicated to Hurricane Katrina and the Zotob worm. This worm exploits a vulnerability reported by Microsoft in its bulletin MS05-001 to download and run on a computer. After it is installed on your computer, Downloader.ENC tries to download a version of the Delder worm from a specific web page.
First hacker tool in today’s report ? 007Spy, which can record screenshots and keystrokes, and log sites and files that the user opens. It can send collected information via FTP.
007Spy can covertly work in the system, so that users will not be aware of its presence on the computer. In addition, it can prevent itself from being detected by several anti-spyware programs, and allows you to set a password to prohibit access to the program.
Today’s report ends with a hacker utility called KeyMask, which records the keys pressed by the user. To control the monitoring process, it creates a KH file.DLL exporting the following functions: Stara, StartMaskKey and StopMaskKey.
KeyMask can collect passwords and other confidential information, violating the user’s privacy.
