Agilent Technologies Introduces 1.3 Megapixel Single-Chip CMOS Sensor. A feature of the novelty is the improved pixel architecture (enhanced-performance, EP), which, according to the developer, allows for increased clarity of images and improved color rendering in any lighting conditions. As stated in the official press release, the new sensor provides a 10x reduction in noise and bridges the gap in image quality between CMOS and CCD sensors. The EP architecture has made it possible to increase the area of the photodiode within the 3.3 micrometer active pixel, the shape of which has a high degree of symmetry.
