ATI bets on AMD M2 platform

According to the source, ATI Technologies is preparing to present five new chipsets for the AMD Socket M2 platform in 2021. They will be produced by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company). As you know, AMD M2 design provides a unified 940-pin socket for all desktop processors with one and two cores.

ATI prepares RD580 and RD580C chipsets with Crossfire support for the upper price segment. They are supposed to be able to compete with NVIDIA nForce4 SLI. The company plans to begin mass production of new products at the end of the year, and, most likely, the schedule will be synchronized with the release of the corresponding AMD products.

For OEMs and System Integrators, ATI will offer RX485 and RS485 chipsets, which are upgraded versions of RX480 and RS482, respectively. Their production is also scheduled to begin at the end of the year. RS485 chipset with integrated video subsystem will include Radeon ATI X300 GPU. In addition, in the second quarter of next year, the company will release RS690 – a more powerful version of RS485.

As for Intel products, the RC410 chipset will remain ATI’s main offer.
