Dell recalls 22,000 laptop batteries

Dell is recalling approximately 22,000 laptop batteries due to the risk of fire from overheating. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using defective products.

It has received several reports of overheating in batteries, the company says. In these cases, overheating caused damage to tables and personal belongings, but did not lead to injury.

Recallable batteries were shipped with Dell Latitude D410, D505, D510, D600, D610, D800, D810 laptops; Inspiron 510M, 600M, 6000, 8600, 9200, 9300, XPS Gen 2; Precision M20 and M70. In addition, a number of defective items were sold separately.

The belonging of a particular battery to the defective batch is determined by its identification number when contacting the company. Reported to be products sold in the United States. No data for other countries yet.
