Overview A-G54 | MSI USA
Fujifilm FinePix F30 ISO 3200. Who is bigger?

At one time, Fujifilm was the first to market a compact camera with the ability to shoot at ISO 1600. The most famous and mass model last year was the FinePix F10, and a few months ago its improved version, the FinePix F11, appeared.

Both cameras are based on a proprietary development of the company – the SuperCCD HR (fifth generation) sensor, which allows shooting in the range of sensitivity values from 80 to 1600 ISO units. This gave the user the opportunity, for example, when shooting with a flash indoors, to take pictures with a traced background. Or, increasing the sensitivity, reduce the shutter speed and avoid blur when using 3x optical zoom. The noise in this case, of course, increased, but not as critical as on other cameras of this class equipped with conventional CCD sensors. Based on my personal experience with the FinePix F11, I note that ISO 1600 is already of little use due to a sharp increase in the noise level. Other values, including ISO 800, are more or less suitable for everyday shooting.

Fujifilm today announces the sequel to its best-selling FinePix F10 / F11 – the FinePix F30. The main difference between the new items is the ability to shoot at a sensitivity value of 3200 (!) ISO units. At the same time, the photosensitive matrix has familiar characteristics – 1 / 1.7 “, the resolution is 6.3 megapixels. But this is the 6th generation SuperCCD HR. Lens unchanged (8 – 24mm, f / 2.8 – f / 5.0). Time will show what image quality and noise level the user will get using ISO 3200. Whether there will be a really tangible difference between the fifth and sixth generation SuperCCD HR matrices, or is this a purely marketing ploy, is still unknown.

In any case, Fujifilm couldn’t have done otherwise. After all, competitors are not asleep, and in their new models they also offer the possibility of shooting at high sensitivity values. Today you will not surprise anyone with the presence of ISO 800 or even ISO 1600 in ultra-compacts.

So what else, besides the matrix with the notorious ISO 3200, offers the new FinePix F30? The main thing is the new Real Photo Processor II. Camera design has changed a bit. Grew up to 230 thousand. Pixel resolution 2.5-inch LCD. Added 256-zone TTL exposure metering and 10 MB of internal memory. The start of sales is scheduled for May 2021 at a price of approximately $ 400.

Whether these innovations are enough to change the FinePix F10 / F11 to a new model – it is up to the buyer to decide. Either way, the camera will go down in history as the first compact model with ISO 3200.
