MRV: SFP modules for DVB-ASI digital video transmission over coaxial cable
MRV, a provider of metro IP and fiber optic solutions, has released new models of the industry’s first, according to a press release, miniature plug-in SFP modules with copper-coaxial interfaces for DVB-ASI digital video transmission. New coaxial SFPs work according to the DVB-ASI BS standard.EM50083-9 at 270 Mbps.
The use of these modules allows you to expand the range of devices supported by transport systems with SFP slots, providing connection of video transmission devices equipped with coaxial interfaces.
The new SFP modules have been released in two modifications: the SFP-CXASI-TX model is designed to transmit DVB-ASI video signal, and the SFP-CXASI-RX device is designed to receive it. To organize a unidirectional DVB-ASI connection, it is necessary to use a pair of such devices at both ends of the connection.
SFP modules supporting digital video transmission protocols can be used in various models of MRV equipment to build transport systems operating with both optical and coaxial cable.
The use of converter modules EM316DMR3G-3R and EM316-2SFP with SFP for the FiberDriver platform provides solutions for various types of signal transmission, including optical-to-optical, coaxial-optics and coaxial-coaxial, as well as for the organization of connections with redundant communication channel. In addition, the EM316DMR3G-3R converters provide the ability to organize bi-directional digital video signal transmission over a pair of optical fibers or one fiber.
Another application of these SFP modules is their use in CWDM / DWDM systems, which makes it easy to transfer digital video signals together with any data transfer protocols (including Fast and Gigabit Ethernet, STM-1, STM-4, STM-16, etc.).d.) over a pair of optical fibers or one fiber.
