msystems mDOC H3 – Best Flash for Intel Monahans Platform?
Msystems Introduces Bootstrap Flash Memory Optimized for Monahans Devices.
Dubbed the mDOC H3, the new product, the manufacturer claims, gives device designers a “near plug-and-play” ease of integrating the latest multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory into devices based on the Intel platform under the codename named Monahans, which uses the third generation Intel XScale processors.
In time to see the industry shift to the future-proof MLC NAND memory, msystems has prepared the mDOC family suitable for use as “solid state drives” in smartphones, the market for which is now growing rapidly. The embedded TrueFFS software, which is tasked with managing the flash memory of the mDOC H3, runs its own module controller, making it a complete, self-contained unit that can be easily added to a variety of handheld devices. This architecture minimizes the time and cost of the development phase for integrating flash memory into a cell phone, smartphone or PDA.
The release of devices msystems mDOC H3 from 128 MB to 2 GB is planned. The dimensions of the novelty case are 9×12, 11×14 or 12×18 mm, depending on the volume. Boot block (XIP boot block) – 32 Kb.
