Rambus technology boosts the performance of Cell BE processors
As it became known, IBM and Rambus have entered into a licensing agreement that allows IBM to use Rambus technologies in Cell Broadband Engine (Cell BE) processors and related chips. Rambus FlexIO processor bus and XDR memory interface.
Recall that the Cell BE processor was developed jointly by specialists from IBM, Toshiba and Sony Group. It has a multi-core architecture focused on media processing, which provides it with high performance in computationally demanding applications.
