The Rabbit 4000 microprocessor is about to start shipping

As it became known, the start of deliveries of the Rabbit 4000 microprocessor, designed by Rabbit Semiconductor, is scheduled for April 4.

The first information about the Rabbit 4000 microprocessor was published last fall. New addition to Rabbit family of processors for embedded applications. The new processor differs from its predecessors in the presence of a built-in 10Base-T Ethernet interface and a DMA controller (8 independent DMA channels).

Other features include security hardware, hardware breakpoints, up to 40 general purpose I / O lines (5 parallel 8-bit ports), 6 serial ports. The assignment of many pins of the microprocessor is changed by software (4 levels of reassignment are implemented). The maximum processor clock speed is 60 MHz, the supply voltage is 1.8 V (core), 3.3 or 1.8 V (I / O subsystem). Address bus – 24 bits, data – 8/16.

As planned, the Rabbit 4000 will be available in two 128-pin package designs: LQFP and TFBGA. Simultaneously with the start of deliveries of microprocessors, a developer kit will appear on sale (pictured), which simplifies the development of designs based on the Rabbit 4000.

The RabbitCore RCM4100 Development Kit is priced at $ 259; the processor itself, subject to wholesale purchase, will cost about $ 9.
