DMC-L1: Panasonic’s first DSLR camera

PMA 2021 continues to bring good news to fans of the 4/3 standard. Panasonic’s first SLR camera was officially announced yesterday.

Panasonic DMC-L1 has a lot in common with the “revolutionary” camera Olympus EVOLT E-330, presented a month earlier, in which, as you know, the ability to sight on the screen is implemented. The DMC-L1 uses the same 4/3 ” LiveMOS sensor with a resolution of 7.5 megapixels as the main photosensitive element. But, nevertheless, there are enough differences:

  • original body, built on the basis of a metal frame
  • Leica D Vario-Elmarit 14-50mm / F2 lens.8-3.5 with image stabilization and aperture selection ring
  • image processor Venus Engine III LSI
  • shutter speed range 30 – 1/4000 s (and bulb exposure mode “B”)
  • LCD 2.5 ” diagonal, 207K. pixels
  • support for SD memory cards (including new SDHC cards with a capacity of more than 2 GB)

More precise specifications for the Panasonic DMC-L1 have not yet been released. The price of the new item is not yet known. It is only clear that Panasonic DSLRs will be more expensive than their Olympus counterparts.
