Lite-On SLW-831SX – Compact External DVD ± R / RW Drive

Interesting external recorder SLW-831SX with USB 2 interface.0 was presented by Lite-On – it differs from many other solutions by slot loading of the disk. With the help of such a design solution, it was possible to achieve very small dimensions and weight (only 350 grams).

The manufacturer positions its device as an ideal solution for mobile PC users, whose compact laptops are not equipped with an optical drive, or simply for those who want to save space on their desktop.

The drive supports the main formats of optical discs, however, it neither reads nor writes RAM discs. Speed characteristics are below average in modern devices – pay for compactness. DVD ± R Lite-On SLW-831SX writes at 8x, and DVD ± RW at 4x. For CD-RW discs, the write speed is 24x. Dual layer discs are written and read at the same 2.4x speed.

SLW-831SX goes on sale in April for $ 175 MSRP.
