As you know, EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) or E-GPRS technology enables operators of GPRS networks to provide data transmission over cellular networks and provide services at the level of capabilities of the third generation of mobile telephony.

By deploying E-GPRS over their existing GPRS network, operators can quadruple the maximum amount of data transferred per user. Moreover, in many cases, capacity building is provided with the help of software tools, while maintaining investment in base stations.

For users who want to take advantage of EDGE on their PCMCIA-equipped mobile computers, Enfora has launched the EDG0200 modem in an expansion card form factor.

When working in an EDGE network, the modem provides data transfer rates up to 236.8 Kbps. If for some reason EDGE service is unavailable, the card switches to using traditional GPRS.

The modem is designed to work in E-GPRS / GPRS / GSM networks of four bands: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz. This makes it a universal companion for users who have to travel a lot, including from continent to continent.
