Microsoft: Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool v.one.eight
Microsoft has released a malware removal tool for Windows operating systems. This tool will help remove the most common malware from infected systems. Because computers may appear to function normally when infected, Microsoft recommends running this tool even if you think everything is fine with your computer. In addition to this tool, you should use an up-to-date antivirus program to protect your computer from other malware.
The new version of the tool is released every second Tuesday of the month. New versions will be available from the Microsoft Download Center website, Windows Update and Windows Automatic Updates. A network version of the tool is also available.
After running the tool and accepting the terms of the license agreement, the computer will be automatically scanned for the most common malicious programs and removed if detected. Upon completion of the work, a report is displayed on the screen about which malware was detected and removed. The tool can be removed at the end of its work. The tool also creates an mrt log file.log in the% WINDIR% debug folder.
For a list of malware that can be removed with the current version of the tool, as well as instructions on how to use it, see. For more information see Knowledge Base article KB890830. Please be aware that this tool sends anonymous information to Microsoft if it detects a virus or fails. This KB article contains information on how to disable this feature and what information is sent to Microsoft.
It is highly recommended that you read Knowledge Base article KB891716 before installing this tool in your organization.
