msystems introduces CompactFlash for industrial applications

Following Datakey Electronics, msystems has offered its own flash memory for industrial applications. The novelty received the designation mModule CF 5000 and will be available in several sizes: from 32 MB to 8 GB.

MModule CF 5000 products are primarily intended for use in routers, mini-PBXs, wearable computers, industrial PCs and POS. mModule CF 5000 is not the first m-systems product for industrial use based on flash memory. There are other samples in the company’s assortment – for example, the “solid state drive” for embedded applications, shown in the picture.

The manufacturer notes the following features of the new product:

  • Performance. Ultra DMA 5 support achieves 20 Mb / s data transfer rate.
  • Reliability. Patented TrueFFS technology implemented in firmware ensures a high degree of data integrity in the mModule CF 5000, even when the power is off. TrueFFS features include dynamic bad block management, error detection and correction (EDC / ECC).
  • Longer service life. According to the company, mModule CF 5000 performs static and dynamic load balancing, extending the life of flash memory by up to 5 million write / erase cycles.
  • Data protection. The mModule CF 5000 core implements encryption algorithms, including 256-bit AES. Non-recoverable data deletion function is provided.
  • Mechanical stability. The product is designed for use in harsh climatic conditions, withstands shock, pressure drops and vibration. In this respect, the mModule CF 5000 meets the requirements of the MIL-STD-810F standard applied to military equipment.
