SST Expands the Flash Memory Family for Mobile and Wireless Applications
Flash Memory Company Silicon Storage Technology (SST) Announces New 34 Series ComboMemory Models. A special feature of ComboMemory memory is the presence of two types of memory in one device.
In particular, the SST34HF32xx ComboMemory chips each contain 32 Mbit of flash memory and 4, 8 or 16 Mbit of “pseudo-static” random access memory (PSRAM). New items are designed for use in devices such as mobile phones, wireless modems and PDAs. One feature of ComboMemory products that has attracted the attention of designers and manufacturers is pinout compatibility with industry-leading memory chips.
According to research company Web-Feet Research, the growth of the cell phone market is accompanied by its segmentation. Estimates show that voice-dominated simple phones will account for about 30% of the global market in 2021. The use of new ComboMemory microcircuits in such models will reduce the cost of devices by providing the necessary volumes of built-in memory of two types while reducing the list of used components.
The SST34HF32xx flash memory is split into two banks to improve performance, allowing you to write to one of them while reading from the other. This and other techniques for increasing speed are covered under the SuperFlash designation.
Microcircuits are powered from a single source with a voltage of 2.7-3.3 V. Typical current consumption in active mode does not exceed 25 mA, in idle mode – 60 μA. The manufacturer claims that the storage time of data in flash memory is 100 years. Available in two 8 x 10 x 1.4 mm package designs: 56-pin and 62-pin LFBGA. The wholesale cost of microcircuits is 6-7 dollars per piece, depending on the amount of memory.
