Maxell: DVD-RAM discs with a maximum write speed of 12x

Japanese company Maxell introduced the first DVD-RAM discs with a maximum write speed of 12x, compatible with version 2.2 rev. five.0 specifications of this format.
The company says that discs can only be burned using the next generation DVD-RAM2 drives, which operate at 6x / 8x / 12x / 16x speeds. You can determine whether the device belongs to DVD-RAM2 by the logo.

DVD Forum has certified this technology as DVD-RAM Class 1. The previous generation, recall, worked at 2x / 5x speed and was called DVD-RAM Class 0.

The problems of incompatibility of new discs with DVD-RAM Class 0 devices are possible even with reading discs, but in most cases they should be solved by flashing the drives.

The new discs will go on sale on March 24 at a price of $ 8 60 cents, so far only in the Japanese market.
