Jazz Semiconductor Uses Aluminum in Mixed SoCs

Jazz Semiconductor Announces 0.13μm RFCMOS Manufacturing Process for Digital Chip Integration with Analog Circuits. Called CA13, the process is a cost-effective alternative to the traditional 0.13-μm CMOS process with copper conductors: it uses aluminum instead of copper. The process allows low-power logic and analog logic circuits, including ? radio frequency, circuits.

According to the developer, the integration of analog and RF circuits in the chip using aluminum connections can provide the level of performance and power consumption typical of a conventional 0.13-micron process, while maintaining a low cost. The CA13 uses proven modules to form SiGe NPN, Vertical PNP, High-Voltage FET and non-volatile memory at 0.35 micron and 0.18 micron standards.

In terms of applications, the 0.13-micron process technology is focused on the markets of TV tuners, integrated demodulators, cellular and wireless LAN transceivers, as well as other devices in which it is necessary to integrate digital and analog, RF parts within a single-chip system.
