The WIN MB-06048 SBC accepts two dual-core AMD Opteron processors

Given the unusual properties of the novelty, which will be discussed, let me abandon the usual order of presentation. First, let’s list everything that the designers of WIN Enterprises have placed on the MB-06048 board:

  • Two connectors for one or two single- or dual-core AMD Opteron processors (the second processor is installed on an expansion daughter board – just such a configuration is shown in the picture);
  • Two slots for DDR PC-3200 ECC memory modules with a total capacity of up to 8 GB;
  • Integrated ATI M9 video adapter (64 MB video memory)
  • Three Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 ports;
  • Four USB 2 ports.0;
  • Two RS232 ports;
  • One IDE port, four SATA ports with RAID support;
  • PCI Express x16 expansion card slot;
  • PCI-X Expansion Card Slot (64-bit, 133 MHz).

The computer is based on the system chipset NVIDIA nForce Professional 2200 and AMD 8132.

And now – about the main thing: all this beauty is placed on a board with dimensions of approximately 34×12.6 cm (PICMG 1.3) and runs under OS Linux Debian 64 or Windows XP (32- and 64-bit versions).

Since WIN Enterprises specializes in embedded controllers and computer platforms for OEMs, it is easy to understand that the new product is focused on embedded solutions, and those, the main requirement for which is high performance. Still, four processor cores in an embedded computer are serious. This is convincingly evidenced by the price of MB-06048 – 1000 dollars, and in the configuration with a daughterboard for the second processor – all 1250 (prices are given without taking into account the cost of processors and memory).
