Transitive denies Rosetta’s underperformance claims

In an interview with MacWorld, a representative of the Transitive company, which developed the Rosetta emulation technology for Apple, noted that the performance of this solution is sufficient for most users.

As you know, despite the fact that new Apple systems with Intel Core processors are several times faster than their predecessors when working with x86-optimized applications, the performance level in packages written for PowerPC, for example, Adobe Photoshop, is not as high as users would like this. An illustration of this is the recent testing of the Mac mini Core Duo, which in Cinema 4D was three times slower than the previous high-end model.

“If you are a professional, or just use resource-intensive applications, you will certainly notice a certain loss in performance. However, in our opinion, this problem concerns a relatively small number of users and a small number of applications. For most users, the performance of the Rosetta is good enough, ”says Bob Wiederhold, CEO of Transitive.
