NVIDIA will let ATI go ahead?

At the end of December, we announced the possible plans of two eternal competitors, ATI and NVIDIA, to release new GPUs in 2021. At the same time, at the end of December, it was mentioned that the novelties of both companies will operate at higher than now, clock frequencies – from 700 MHz.

If you believe the new portion of rumors, the 90nm NVIDIA G71 chip, which may be called the GeForce 7900 GTX, will see the light only in March, during the CeBIT exhibition, while (according to unconfirmed reports) ATI X1900 will appear on the market already at the end of this month.

It is claimed that the GeForce 7900 GTX will be equipped with 32 pixel pipelines and will operate at a clock frequency of 700-750 MHz, while the GDDR3 memory for this processor will operate at a frequency of 800-900 / 1600-1800 MHz. At the same time, the computing power of the G71 will be significantly higher than that of the GeForce 7800 GTX 512 – to provide the same performance as the latest G71 chip, it will be enough to operate at a frequency of 430 MHz.

Recall that the X1900 expected at the end of January will operate at a lower clock frequency – 650-700 MHz, however, it will be equipped with a large number of pipelines – 48. Beyond DirectX 9 Shader Model 3.0, the new GPU will also support Avivo’s 40-bit video processing technology.
