Novell Announces Long Term Plans for Novell Open Enterprise Server, Including Timeline for Two Future Versions of the Product. Novell also said it will continue to support Novell NetWare 6.5 as long as customers use this operating system. As a result, Novell customers will be able to benefit from their existing investment in NetWare while taking advantage of new capabilities to run leading-edge services and applications on Linux with minimal or no impact on their existing IT environment.

The next version of Open Enterprise Server, codenamed Cypress, will be released in mid-2021 and will include virtualization tools, improved integration of Microsoft Active Directory and Novell eDirectory services using Kerberos, support for 64-bit x86 processors from AMD and Intel, and much more. Cypress will be followed by Ponderosa, focused on supporting cutting-edge solutions for the next generation of Novell collaboration services, as well as updating the workgroup platform to improve productivity.
