Moxa: the new UC-7400 series of embedded computers
Moxa Group has begun shipping a new series of UC-7400-CE embedded computers, which will include UC-7420-CE, UC-7410-CE and UC-7408-CE. These are compact fanless solutions for industrial applications. The CE prefix means the series comes preinstalled with the Windows CE 5 operating system.0. In addition, solutions from the UC-7400-LX line with embedded Linux are available.
Computers have a so-called network-centric purpose, recommended applications are Protocol Conversion, remote access, Secure Device Server.
UC-7400 series architecture includes Intel XScale IXP-422 processor operating at 266 MHz, 128 MB RAM and 32 MB flash memory. There are eight RS-232/422/485 serial ports, two 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports, it is possible to install Cardbus card type expansion devices and optionally – PCMCIA 2.1 / JEIDA 4.2. UC-7420-CE has a built-in 128 x 64 pixel display. The enclosures of the devices are made of 1 mm thick steel, wall-mounted or DIN-rail possible.
Despite the expansion of the line by models with the built-in Windows CE OS, the manufacturer still recommends using the Linux version, explaining this by the greater stability and reliability of this OS. UC-7400-LX line includes Linux kernel version 2.four.eighteen.
